Practicing with the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic for since 1992, Dr. Ashley received her Bachelor's degree in Music from University of Miami and practiced as a Music Therapist at Georgia Mental Health Institute for seven years. She then received her Master's degree in Special Education from Georgia State University and taught learning disabled, ADHD and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents for five years, both in the classroom as well as in the private tutoring sector. She then entered medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, and did her pediatric internship at Grady Memorial Hospital, as well as a pediatric neurology rotation at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Following internship, Dr. Ashley completed her two years of adult psychiatric residency and then two years of child psychiatry fellowship within the Emory University System.
Seeing adults as well as children and adolescents in clinical practice, Dr. Ashley has a special interest in treating depression, women’s mood disorders and various anxiety disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder. She specializes in ADHD, learning disabilities, autism and Asperger’s Disorder, as well as tics/Tourette’s Syndrome and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. She enjoys providing parental training, behavioral planning, school consultation and individual therapy.
As a member of the Georgia Psychiatric Physician’s Association, she has recently been elected to their Board. Dr. Ashley is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association as well as the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Emory University and supervises Fellows in Child Psychiatry.unity.
