At AAFPC, our clinicians are exceptionally well established and seasoned,  dedicated to the sensitive personal care of our patients and clients. We are committed to take the time to comprehensively understand each clinical situation. As such, our psychiatrists and therapists may be considered "old school" in that we all provide thoughtful and practical counseling and psychotherapy for our client/patients and or their families along with contemporary medication  (psychopharmacological) care as needed.

Evaluation/Assessment: Diagnostic assessments, psychiatric evaluation. School consultations.

Psychotherapy Services: All Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic clinicians, (psychiatrists, psychologist and clinical social workers) are fully trained and experienced psychotherapists.  Our psychiatrists, Dr's. R. Slayden, Waugh, Ashley, Iwanicki, Kirsch, Nitsche, E. Slayden and Perez are medical doctors with up to 5 years (child and adolescent psychiatrists) training beyond their medical (M.D.) degree. Dr. Gard, our psychologist has a Ph.D. degree and multiple years of additional training. Our Social Worker/therapists, L. Mette, LCSW and Madison Peters, LMSW both with a masters degrees. We all continue to improve our knowledge and clinical expertise by continuing education throughout the year to meet and frequently exceed our licensure and specialty society requirements. AAFPC's clinicians provide a full range of child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy services and techniques including,  individual psychotherapy, marital/couples therapy, family therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques are also utilized when appropriate.

Psychopharmacological/Adjunctive Services: Psychopharmacology (medication) evaluation and management. Second opinion medication consultation. Case consultation with your primary physician or other health care provider.

Genetic Testing: We now have the availability to test for the metabolism of many medications with a simple saliva sample. This test provides us with indicators regarding which medications to avoid and in some cases which may be more effective plus a test for a deficiency of the capability to convert certain nutrients to a CNS functional form.

PLEASE NOTE: Our practice is soon moving to a new software platform, Luminello, which will necessitate a significant change in the way we interact with our patients as far as billing/making payments and for some of our providers, setting appointments. Luminello is very robust and comprehensive so there may be other features that we will utilize as time goes on as well. You will receive an e-mail invitation from Luminello to create your patient portal account. When you receive this email, please set up your portal account and enter your credit card information at that time.
Once we “go live”, (when we activate the payment/billing functions of Luminello), we will use your portal account to charge your credit card at the time of each appointment and send appointment reminders. Having your portal set up in advance will facilitate this transition when it occurs. Our best estimate is that we will probably be “going live” in March or April. We will need to have all accounts set up by then so there is time but you don't want to let it run out. You may discuss any questions in your next appointment with your provider. While we are in transition, you may also receive email billing notices from Luminello; these are only tests; for now you will still need to make payments for appointments through our PayPal link.
If you have already set up your portal and entered your credit card, you may ignore this message.

Prescription delivery: Almost all prescriptions are now E-Prescribed directly to your pharmacy.  We can, as an back up, mail to you or call in a prescriptions. Allow 1 or 2 additional days to obtain your refills. In the event of an emergency need for a prescription, call your physician on their voicemail and arrange for phoned in, mailed or e-prescribed Rx.
Covid-19 OFFICE Procedures and Policies
We have amended our Covid policy to eliminate mask requirement in the office. However we ask that if you have any symptoms or recent Covid exposure that you convert your appointment to a Video appointment.
Thank you
